I am an Assistant Professor of German at Wittenberg University. From 2019-2022, I taught at Lawrence University as Assistant Professor of German and Faculty Affiliate in Ethnic Studies and Global Studies. I was also an ACM Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellow at Lawrence. From 2015-2019, I was a Lecturer and German Program Coordinator at the State University of New York at New Paltz. At New Paltz, I taught in the Honors program and taught cross-listed courses with Film & Video Studies, Jewish Studies, Political Science, and Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies. I received my PhD in German Studies from the University of Cincinnati in 2015. I obtained my masters degree in German Studies from the University of Kentucky and hold my B.A. in both German & History from Bethany College in Bethany, WV. My research and teaching interests span Black German Studies, German-Jewish Studies, Film & Media Studies, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (Graduate Certificate).
Together with Tiffany N. Florvil, I edit the series Imagining Black Europe that we initiated at Peter Lang International Publishing. I also serve as an H-Net Review Editor for H-Black Europe and am a co-chair of the Black Diaspora Studies Network for the German Studies Association.
